ONO-SENDAI // GENERATIVE GROOVE BOX

Description

ONO-SENDAI is an hybrid between a generative drum machine and a groove box with unique takes. You play it realtime by ear, rewriting and morphing the sequencer quite elastically.
We have taken Mutable Instruments code from Braids as a base to build the oscillators and then applied percussive estrategies. You can apply LFO´s and envelopes to sculpt the sound in realtime while you record parameter locks. It rewrites the sequences in realtime giving variation and organicity to the sound.

                        The result is a mix of retro sounds and quite futuristic                                                                    and avant garde landscapes.

The firmware is in expansion and there are planned a good chunk of new features like MIDI implementations and some alienesque ideas.

The latest firmware 1.6 has the following features:

• Clock in.
• Clock out.
• Clearer sound (no glitches)
• Preset load.
• BPMs displayed on screen.
• Redesigned graphical interface.
• The coarse pot plays in chromatic scale (always in tune, you can still detune with the fine pot)
• Easier/more logical interface (recorded parameter locks are implemented when you release the REC button, no need to turn another potentiometer/key)

To change the firmware in your ONO-SENDAI just connect it to the computer with a USB C cable. Then, press BOOT, without releasing it press RESET. Release RESET, release BOOT. A window will open in your computer. Just drag the firmware that you want to install to that window and you are ready to play it.

ONO-SENDAI feeds from a common USB C type cable (not included) and therefore can be powered via a power bank turning it into a portable unit.

It comes comes in 3 flavors:

• As a fully assembled unit.
• As a complete kit (with all the components) so that the user can play with it from the beginning.
• As a prepolulated PCB + Programmed microcontroller for medium and advanced DIYers. The user has to source the rest of the components and build the synth.
